Our aim is to help people understand the importance of recycling, waste reduction and the links between waste and climate change. Our workshops are designed to adapt to the age and knowledge of the audience, so that there's something for everyone.

Our Sustainable Schools Programme is designed to empower students and schools to take meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future. Through interactive sessions, resources, and funding opportunities, we aim to inspire and support sustainable practices in schools.

Primary - How to be an Eco-Hero workshop
How to be an Eco-Hero workshop
Suitable for ages 6-10
This creative workshop introduces your students to:
- The meaning of waste
- What recycling is, and why it's important
- What happens to food waste
- The Waste Hierarchy's 5 r's
Students can create their own ‘eco-hero’ and identify ways that they can become an eco-hero in their school or at home.
They come away having learned how to be a more conscientious member of their community and have fun through creative play.

Best for ages 5-8
Experience the joy of our Munch storytimes, featuring a special recycling
storybook written by Veolia employees, combined with interactive presentations and a fun recycling game.
This dynamic blend of storytelling and hands-on activities makes sustainability education exciting and memorable for young learners.

Our recycling workshops are designed to meet your students where they're at. If you're just starting your sustainability journey in your school, then we can deliver a workshop introducing you to the key concepts in waste and recycling.
Diving Deeper
If your students want to engage more deeply, then our curriculum aligned workshops can delve deeper into waste in specific industries, such as the fashion sector, and explore specific material pathways.
Designing for Circularity
Aimed at Design and creative students, this workshop breaks down the challenges of recycling many day-to-day products, and we work together to design alternative designs to commonly used products.
Secondary - Eco-Leaders Programme
This 8-12 week programme is divided into 4 parts that develop students’ sustainable expertise and transferable skills.
Empower your students to become environmental champions with Veolia's ECO-Leaders program.
Our team works alongside your school's ECO groups, providing expert guidance and a £500 funding pot to bring student-led sustainability projects to life.
Students will:
- Learn about global environmental issues and solutions, including how recycling works and how to reduce waste
- Creatively explore designing waste out of the system through engaging challenges
- Work in teams to brainstorm ideas for global waste reduction, and complete a debate or negotiation task
- Design a project that positively benefits the environment around the school or local community
For Teachers - Training
Supporting the sustainability lead
We know that sustainability leads in schools take on a lot of responsibility. We can provide practical support such as delivering climate and waste workshops with teachers, to ensure they understand the goals of the school, and to ensure that they are confident delivering their own sessions.
We also host sessions to discuss what the school needs to reduce waste, and discuss practical ways Veolia can support you.

Careers support
Careers in sustainability are more important than ever, yet many young people find it challenging to gain experience and present their knowledge for employers.
Our team can support students explore green careers by:
- Hosting careers talks
- Working with students to improve CVs and cover letters for green jobs
- Attend careers fairs, and share opportunties with Veolia across the business functions
Support with projects and events
We will support students to put together events that support the delivery of a local change-making project, such as:
- Sustainable fashion show
- Hosting swap shops
- Litter picking
- Behavioural change project on a specific Camden estate
We can support through expert advice, support at in-person events, providing print materials and providing employment references.
Industry talks
Our expert team can deliver talks to students within and without sustainability. Waste and recycling intersects all walks of life, and so students from all courses can benefit from our sessions. For example:

- Policy - explaining the current policy landscape and how it intersects practically with business
- Education - we can work together to develop and deliver educational workshops

Veolia has a whole host of business functions, and we are keen to provide employment and careers talks to students of all disciplines.
Model Politics Workshop
Our ½ day or multi-session workshop is designed to encourage students to draw links between their discipline and the wider landscape of sustainability.
The highly interactive session invites students to role-play as different decision makers including:
- Industry-specific stakeholders
- Local government
- Waste managers & processors
- Local residents
- Local businesses
The aim of the session is to identify what needs each group have, and to negotiate to find the best solutions for a local waste problem.
General Public
You don't need to be a student to benefit from our educational services, you just need an interest in sustainability and improving your local area (and to be a resident of Camden).

Repair workshops
Learn basic repair skills such as sewing and simple household repairs with our team.
